We love our Old Bay Seasoning. Out of necessity we turned to this substitute when our local grocer was out of the ‘good stuff’ and we had hours before a house full of people were arriving for a crab feed. Pretty happy with the results. “
INGREDIENTS
- 2 Tbsp. ground bay leaves (Fine powder. Coffee grinder works great!)
- 1/4 cup celery salt
- 3 Tbsp. paprika
- 1 Tbsp. dry mustard
- 2 tsp. ground black pepper
- 1 tsp. ground white pepper (If you don’t have on hand, add one more teaspoon of black pepper.)
- 1 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp. ground allspice
- 1 tsp. ground ginger
- 3/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 1/2 tsp. ground cardamom
DIRECTIONS
- Mix all seasonings together well. Makes approximately 1/2 cup of seasoning.
- Store in airtight container. Use 1 for 1 in recipes calling for “Old Bay Seasoning”.
