Have you and your family tried these?
I think they may be a new family favorite. I was on the hunt for a way to sneak in some more protein in the kids’ lunches. Due to allergies in the classroom, peanut butter and tree nuts are out of the question. They do not love sandwiches or yogurt. They tend to only like cottage cheese at home. They end up eating quite a bit of hummus, beans, olives, edamame, and “tacos”. And honestly, many of my other tricks are losing their luster by this time of the school year! So the hunt is on.
I loved the idea of the bean chips before we even tasted them because I knew if they liked them they would be something they would grab for snack on the way to the playground. So was I ever so happy when we got them home and tried them! Yum!
INGREDIENTS of the Black Bean Beanitos with Sea salt (as stated on their website): Whole Black Beans, Whole Grain Long Brown Rice and/or Long Grain White Rice, Pure Sunflower and/or Safflower Oil, Guar Bean Gum, Sea Salt.
They are crisp with the perfect amount of sea salt. They pair great with hummus, guacamole, salsa… you name it! I love that they are corn free, non gmo, gluten free, and void of msg and preservatives. And they are low glycemic to boot!
There are several flavors. So far we have tried the “Restaurant Style White Bean”, Original Black Bean (our favorite!), and the Simply Pinto with Sea Salt. All of them are delicious and pass as “tortilla chips” with the kids. If you have the chance and are looking to sneak a little more protein in your kiddos lunches, pick up a bag. I have seen them at most of our local grocery stores, you can check their website to find out where to find them by you.
